    1. John, AEP and electric companies across the country understand the critical place that electric service holds in the daily life of every American. AEP has worked to develop a wide range of measures to protect physical facilities as well as electronic systems from those who might try to disrupt life in the United States by targeting the electric grid. We work 24/7/365 to protect our critical energy infrastructure and will remain vigilant in keeping all aspect of our grid operations safe and secure.

    1. Rebecca, there are some benefits to underground power lines; however, they can also be incredibly costly both to install and to repair, in the event there are any issues. And keeping costs down is an important part of serving our customers effectively. We continually assess our infrastructure to determine what equipment makes the most sense in a given area. Good question — thanks for asking.

  1. Thank you for the improvements but when will you do something about the outrageously high bills??? I am a senior citizen living off Social Security and my electric bills keep soaring every month. The current bill is for $106.00. I have lived here for eleven years and have never had a bill over $88.00 during the heat of the summer or the freezing cold of the winter. I am on one of your budget plans and my bills are still soaring. I am either going to have to stop heating my apartment and freeze to death or try and find another electrical carrier. This is not a threat, I just can not continue to pay these outrageous bills.
