AEP Ohio has many amazing women among its ranks: engineers, lineworkers, technicians, customer advocates, analysts, advisors and managers, just to name a few. As we honor Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the female team members who inspire us. We spoke with a few to hear how they’re working to power change every day. Read their stories below:
Kristen Thompson, Manager, Distribution Technical Skills
An 18-year veteran of AEP, Kristen Thompson is now on the front lines teaching our next generation of lineworkers and meter electricians about necessary skills, career advancement and the door-opening power of volunteerism.
Cherie Long, Manager, Distribution System
In her 30-year career at AEP, Cherie Long has embraced her role as a caretaker for her community. She leads a team of 150 distribution operations employees in northwest Ohio and encourages their commitment to the people we serve.
Angie Rybalt, Director, Customer Experience
Rybalt learned her fierce work ethic by watching her father, who “had nothing” when he grew up in Vietnam. She brings a drive and passion to her role leading 23 employees who tackle customer needs in the Columbus area.
Michelle Marsh, Director, Safety & Health
As you move along your career path you’ll make mistakes, but don’t give up, advises Marsh who almost pursued a career that wasn’t right for her. Inspired and supported by her parents, she’s found her passion for getting our workers home injury-free.
Kim Crump, Field Services Supervisor
Crump manages a team that helps maintain more than 517,000 electric meters in the Columbus area. One thing she’s learned during her 42 years with AEP? Women can go anywhere.
