The cold winter months can lead to an increase in monthly electric bills. AEP Ohio’s Neighbor to Neighbor program may be able to offer you some financial relief this season.

Through a partnership with Dollar Energy Fund, the Neighbor to Neighbor program supports customers in need with an assistance grant applied directly to their electric bill. Customers are eligible to receive the grant is available once per customer per program cycle on a first-come, first-served basis. The application period is open now through March 28, 2025, while funds are available.

Since AEP Ohio and Dollar Energy Fund launched the Neighbor to Neighbor program in 2009, more than $20.6 million in bill assistance has been given to nearly 80,000 Ohio households.

Who is Eligible?

Your household may be eligible for up to a $350 grant if:

  • You are an AEP Ohio residential customer.
  • Your income is less than 200% of the federal poverty level guidelines.
  • You are at least 30 days behind on payment and have an outstanding balance of $50 or more.
  • You have paid at least $75 to your AEP Ohio account in the last three months.
  • Your electric service has been disconnected or is in threat of disconnection.
  • You are not enrolled in Ohio’s Percentage of Income Payment Program.

  1. I’m not going to make winter electric payments , im in beginning of applying 4 disability I have no money or psychically able to ever work I have cut down to bearly living& cant even afford food please can u help

  2. I am disconnected and they said I have to
    Pay $6,000 in returned checks when it was an honest mistake if wrong account number missing a number and I tried to pay $175 special reconnect because I have kids in home and it’s cold out and they are denying me of service until I pay $6,000 I don’t have because of my illness
