A safe and comfortable home environment plays an important role in helping families build stability. In Newark, Furniture with a Heart Newark, a program of the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio, helps provide essential household furnishings to individuals and families transitioning into stable housing.

Through partnerships with local organizations and community groups, Furniture with a Heart Newark helps ensure families have access to basic home furnishings that support a fresh start. By providing items that many households take for granted, the initiative helps create spaces where families can feel secure and begin rebuilding their lives.

Through the program, local residents can receive support such as:

  • Essential furniture items that help make a house feel like home.
  • Basic household furnishings for families transitioning into stable housing.
  • Resources that help create a safe and comfortable living environment.

Recently, the AEP Ohio Foundation donated $15,000 to support the Furniture with a Heart Newark program through the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. The funding will help expand access to essential furnishings for individuals and families in the Newark community.

“Partnerships like this are essential to helping ensure families in our community have access to the furniture and home goods they need to keep moving forward,” said Phil Washburn, president and CEO of Furniture Bank.

“Programs like Furniture with a Heart Newark help make a meaningful difference for families working toward stability,” said Patrick Simpson, business service account manager for AEP Ohio. “Our team members live and work in the communities we serve and supporting initiatives like this is one way we strive to be good neighbors.”
