We know many in your community were impacted by the winter storm that hit last week — icy conditions brought down trees and power lines throughout the area. We truly appreciated your patience and understanding as we worked to get your power restored as quickly as we safely could.

After the storm hit, our crews quickly jumped into action to assess the damage to our equipment and determine the resources needed to make repairs. In hard to reach areas, we utilized drones and helicopters to get a better look at the damage caused by the storm. Our forestry team also removed downed trees and cleared the way for our lineworkers to restore power. Across the state, we replaced more than 120 poles and restrung over 1,800 spans of electric wire.

For those directly impacted by the storm, we know it wasn’t easy to be without power, especially with the cold temperatures. For those the storm spared, thank you for your words of encouragement. Our community is stronger together and we’re proud to be a part of yours.

Below is a snapshot of the work completed in your area to get the power back up and running:

Cambridge Area

  • 6 poles replaced
  • 150 spans of wire restrung

Zanesville Area

  • 8 poles replaced
  • 50 spans of wire restrung

Belmont Area

  • 13 poles replaced
  • 150 spans of wire restrung

Any time we are faced with a disruption in our lives the first instinct is to complain, then we think and realize we are thankful for those who out there in all kinds weather keeping us warm or cool. I few hours or days of inconvenience is by far better than alot of the world has their entire lives. So thank you to all from the call center to the linemen. You are appreciated

    1. It is easy to complain when things do not go as expected. We were cold and in the dark but used the opportunity to grow closer as a family. No matter how cold we were, the folks working to restore our power were much colder. We had the shelter of a house while your workers were exposed to the elements. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.

  10. I live on a country road and it is not always plowed. This makes it very difficult for any type of service vehicle to get here and repair. I have always had an open door policy. If they are working in the severe heat I ask if they need something cold to drink, if it’s cold weather, I ask if they would like something warm to drink. I would gladly give them their lunch or dinner while working on our road. I want them to know how much they are appreciated. If they need something knock on the door. I will help.

  11. Very hard but good job. But I for one appreciate all your hard work . Thank you Mark Barto and Family Holloway Ohio.

  12. We maintained power throughout the storm. Our immediate area was only affected by sleet.
As much as I enjoy the seemingly constant flow of electricity, when it don’t flow people get upset but homeowners need to implement backup plans like professionally installed generators.
I’m sure home values would also increase with those systems in place.
Thank you to everyone that works overtime to replace services when necessary.
