We know that many of our customers are facing financial hardships due to the impacts of COVID-19 on businesses. Since March, we’ve temporarily suspended disconnections for non-payment. As part of our return to standard business operations, service disconnections for past due customer accounts will resume in September. No disconnects will occur before September 14. Please refer to your September bill for a potential disconnect date on your individual account.

If you’re struggling to pay your electric bill, it’s important to reach out to our team to find a solution. Taking action now can help keep balances and bills manageable and your electric service connected.

We’re offering extended payment arrangements in many situations. To qualify for payment arrangements, customers must pay a portion of their unpaid balance, and the remaining balance will be added to future bills.

You can act now by discussing payment options with AEP Ohio customer service by:

    1. Hi Zavier. I am passing your email address on to our customer service team and you should expect someone to contact you soon. Thanks for checking in — have a nice day!

  1. I sent the payment over a week and half ago. By the time I receive the bill it is almost the due date. Payments used to go to Canton, but now Pittsburgh.

    1. Hi Robert, give us a call to discuss your options. Automated bill payments might be a good fit for you, but our customer service reps can talk it through with you. Our number is 1-800-672-2231. Thanks for reaching out.

    1. Hi Andy. Good question. I double checked and unfortunately the answer is no. I apologize for the inconvenience. More info about payment options is available here: aepohio.com/account/bills/pay/CompareAllPayments.aspx

      1. Will you guys ever thought about adding that type of services? Type of cards that we all can pay our bill? Others do use American Express.

  3. Hi,
I got a disconnect notice today saying I needed to pay $18 and some change be yesterday or i would get shut off. I am the only one working in my household and will pay my bill in full on the 5th of July. Will I still be disconnected for $18? I am paying something every month.

    1. Hi Deidre. Please reach out to our customer service team to discuss payment options. They can be reached at 800-672-2231.

  4. I can’t believe you still haven’t added American Express as a payment option as accepted cards. Other utilities do. And Matt, please post what you’ve done to help get this change implemented. AEP raises their rates, but they can’t afford to update the website to inclement amex as a payment option.

  5. Your site says you accept American Express but reading customer feedback on here says otherwise. This is so frustrating. Why won’t you accept American Express??

    1. Hello Ashley, I’m sorry for your frustration. Can you tell us where on our site you’re seeing that American Express is accepted? We definitely want to get that incorrect information fixed. I confirmed with our customer service team that our authorized payment partner, BillMatrix, does not accept American Express.
