For over a century, New Lexington’s Newlon Tire has rolled with the changes in the tire industry. The business has quite a legacy, dating back to 1914 with its founder Pearly Newlon. It has celebrated success as one of the most prominent in the eastern U.S. tire industry, led by Fay and Joy Newlon.
The lighting at their facility, however, was in need of an overhaul.
After an onsite assessment, the AEP Ohio team recommended a complete LED lighting upgrade to the facility’s interior and exterior. The project was installed without interruption to sales or service.
The upgrades have resulted in both energy savings and non-energy benefits. Newlon now saves over $600 in electrical usage annually, and a brighter and safer work environment was created for their mechanics, technicians and office staff.
“We’re a small business, and our staff is like family. It feels good to know we’ve made this a safer place for them,” said current owner Jared Holman.
Newlon’s sweet spot is in car and light truck tires, and they also sell agricultural, industrial, turf, and mine service tires, Shop services include front-end and brake repair, and they have a tubing bender for custom exhaust manufacturing and fitting.
