During AEP Ohio’s Week of Service, our team found even more ways to support the communities we call home. From July 26 to Aug. 1, AEP Ohio employees volunteered across the state, helping families, supporting local nonprofits and tackling projects that will benefit communities long after the week ended.
Whether building furniture, serving meals or helping students prepare for a new school year, employees demonstrated that serving others extends far beyond the workplace.
In August, the AEP Ohio Foundation granted a $10,000 grant to help get kids meals for the YMCA of Ross County,.
“Thank you to the AEP Foundation for supporting our free at-risk after school feeding program,” said the YMCA of Ross County on a Facebook post. “Any youth in our community can stop by between 3-4 Monday through Friday for a free meal thanks to generous supporters like AEP!”
In Perry County school district was also awared a $2,000 grant part of AEP Ohio’s school pantry program to help fund much needed supplies like food, hygiene products, undergarments and so much more for students in need.
“Thank you so much for your generous support of our students and families at Southern Local Schools. We are very grateful to receive this grant and excited about the difference it will make for our students,” said the school outreach caseworker, Rikki Wilson. “Our Feeding the Falcons Food Pantry and Miller Mall Clothing Closet help us meet some of the basic needs of our students and families. Through the food pantry, we are able to provide food to families who may be struggling, as well as send food home with students when needed. Our clothing closet gives students access to clothing, shoes, coats, undergarments, hygiene products, and other necessities at no cost.”
