You expect safe, reliable electricity and we’re working hard to deliver it. Improving service means trimming trees, repairing underground cable and testing new overhead lines to keep your power on.

Here’s a snapshot of the work we’re doing around Ohio:

  • A Smarter Grid: Improving how power gets to your home with enhanced technology.
  • Forestry: Trimming and clearing trees around power lines and equipment on a regular basis.
  • Infrared Technology: Finding and fixing equipment issues before they become a problem.
  • Underground Cable: Repairing and replacing more than two million feet of underground cable.
  • Utility Poles: Replacing thousands of poles in communities each year.
  • Overhead Power Lines: Testing new power lines that can withstand contact from trees.

    1. Hi Ralph. Yep, these improvements are all part of our responsibility to make sure customers have reliable electric service.

  1. Do the smart meters record and/notify AEP of the 2 to 3 second outages we have here in Olentangy Highlands? Power goes off, loud bang, power comes back on. All too common occurrence in our neighborhood.

    1. Hi Paul. Smart meters do record the momentary interruptions in power. These short outages are often caused by things such as tree branches or animals which come in contact with our lines or equipment and are cleared automatically, therefore resolving the outage.
