We’re committed to supporting the communities we serve and the passions of our employees who live and work there. We’re celebrating some of our teams’ recent efforts below.

Liberty Benton Youth Sports Association

Nick Schwab is a meter electrician for AEP Ohio whose two children play in the Findlay area group’s baseball and softball leagues. The association is growing rapidly – in fact, a recent softball tournament had over 54 teams. We recently donated to help fund the concessions and golf cart rentals for shuttling people around the local facility’s seven ballfields for game time.

“It was huge for our team at AEP Ohio to show that we care about our little village of Benton Ridge that many coworkers and I call home,” Nick said. “A lot of people have come up to me saying how much they appreciate the help. It means a lot.”

Bratwurst in Bucyrus

The Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival is another community mainstay that has been around since 1968. During the three-day festival, the main street is shut down for daily parades, pageantry events, eating contests, live entertainment, rides and games. An estimated 100,000 people visit for the annual event — and we wouldn’t miss the fun, operating a bucket truck in the parade with a group of proud lineworkers and other employees.

Local distribution system supervisor Eric Walton says participating in festivals like this is a big deal to both his team members and to their families, friends and neighbors, so his team tries to represent AEP Ohio in as many as possible.

“We’re a part of this community—we live and work here. Most people on our team have been in this area their whole lives,” Eric said. “This is a good chance to show the personal side of the crews that customers might see out working every day.”

Other recent employee-led efforts include donations to Boy Scouts of America North Baltimore Troop 315, Kalida Volunteer Fire Association, Findlay Amateur Hockey Association and Delphos Baseball and Softball Association.

Thanks to our team and community for allowing us to join in on the fun!
