Utility companies from across the country come together when disasters strike. AEP Ohio recently sent 14 line workers and four storm restoration experts to Puerto Rico to assist with power restoration efforts in areas devastated by Hurricane Maria in September.

Our crews joined nearly 5,500 restoration workers already on the island who are assisting the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. The crews are focusing their work in Caguas — a remote and mountainous area that was hit hard by the storm. They’ll work 12 to 16 hours a day, seven days a week, to install and repair essential electric equipment.

This is more than a power restoration mission; it’s a humanitarian mission. We’re honored to lend our expertise to help bring power, safety and an improved quality-of-life back to the people of Puerto Rico.
