Is AEP really saying to set the thermostat “to seventy degrees” in the summer?
Am I hearing her right? That is not energy efficient!
Hi Maury, we recommend setting your thermostat to 78 degrees or whatever is comfortable and safe for your family.
If you have window shades, pull them down before the sun hits them during the day. If you have horizontal window blinds, rotate them so they point up at you to help reflect the sun back outside better- if they are pointed down the sun can sneak through the gaps adding to the heat load in your house.
