Supporting our communities is more than a commitment at AEP Ohio. From volunteer projects to foundation grants, employees continue to find meaningful ways to make a difference where they live and work.
During AEP Ohio’s Week of Service, our team found even more ways to support the communities we call home. From July 26 to Aug. 1, AEP Ohio employees volunteered across the state, helping families, supporting local nonprofits and tackling projects that will benefit communities long after the week ended. Whether building furniture, serving meals or helping students prepare for a new school year, employees demonstrated that serving others extends far beyond the workplace.
That commitment to supporting local communities continues through the work of the AEP Ohio Foundation. The Foundation recently awarded grants to 20 schools across northern Ohio to support school-based food pantries, care closets and student resource centers, helping students access essential resources so they can focus on learning.
Among the recipients was Indian Creek Local School District, which received a $2,000 grant to support food pantries in each of its four schools.
“This gift is so much more than stocking shelves,” the school district posted on its facebook page. “It is about making sure our students and famlies have access to the resources they need, providing support when it matters most.”
In Steubenville, AEP Ohio employees joined community volunteers to support United Way’s Day of Action, an annual event focused on improving local neighborhoods and helping families thrive. Employees volunteered their time on projects designed to make a meaningful difference in the community, including landscaping, cleanup efforts and painting. The Day of Action reflects AEP Ohio’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and service, bringing neighbors together to create positive change throughout the region.
