AEP Ohio has made a $5,000 donation to the United Way of Hancock County. With this contribution, the organization will invest in weekend meals for children, food pantries, voucher programs and food distribution events – each having specific importance in battling hunger across the Findlay area.
According to Angela Deboskey, chief executive officer at United Way of Hancock County, food prices are rising and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are changing. This partnership helps reduce the vulnerabilities some local families face.
“Hunger in rural communities looks different than urban areas but it’s no less impactful,” Deboskey said. “Thanks to the help of companies like AEP Ohio, we’re poised and ready to meet food insecurity issues as they arise.”
AEP Ohio Customer & External Affairs Manager John Recker says this kind of financial support is essential for helping our customers in need.
“At AEP Ohio we’re only as strong as the communities we serve,” Recker said. “For our future to be bright, together, we need to look out for each other. Whether it’s through volunteering or financial commitments or supporting local events and organizations, our company and our employees really care about the areas where we live and work. It’s a part of who we are and what we do.”
