AEP Ohio was proud to volunteer at Mount Vernon’s recent Junior Achievement Career Fair at Energy Fieldhouse. This event brings together educators and industry leaders, including AEP Ohio, to help students learn about future career opportunities.
“Engaging with students and providing them a firsthand look at our work is invaluable,” said Patrick Simpson, business service account manager for the Mount Vernon and Knox County area. “By showcasing equipment, protective gear and tools, we spark their curiosity and interest in the field. Students can try on safety gear and learn about daily tasks of our industry.”
More than 160 companies and 1,000 middle school students participated and learned about the opportunities AEP Ohio offers.
In addition to participating in career fairs, AEP Ohio is proud to support local education through initiatives like the Teacher Vision Grant. Recently, we awarded $500 grants to three Knox County Schools:
- Centerburg Schools
- Knox Technical Center
- Fredericktown High School
These grants aim to support educational programs from pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
“Our goal is to not only educate but also inspire the next generation to consider careers in the electric utility industry,” Simpson said. “At AEP Ohio, we believe that by investing in the future, we are helping to shape a brighter tomorrow for our communities.”
